Murat Pasha Mosque

Skopje

The original mosque at this site dated to the 15th century and was one of the oldest in the Balkans, but it was ravaged by a fire that devastated the Čaršija in 1689. What you see today is an early-19th-century reconstruction; it features a distinctive, red-tipped clock tower (the clock itself has long been lost, though) and Ottoman madrasa (Islamic school) remnants.
