Olive Grove Stroll, Village Picnic, and Tramuntana Hike

Olive Fruits On Tree Branches

Overview

After yesterday’s food tour, today shifts the focus to nature — though it wouldn’t be Spain if there wasn’t also a culinary component intertwined in the landscapes you’re visiting. After breakfast this morning, you’ll transfer to a traditional, rural olive estate. Here, you’ll meet the family that runs this sustainable olive farm and get a taste of the Mediterranean lifestyle and its byproducts. Specifically, you’ll tour the grove’s facilities and mill, then walk through the historic olive grove. When the tour concludes, you’ll enjoy a relaxing picnic in the shade of ancient olive trees. That meal will allow you to sample the best Spanish meats and cheeses. What better taste of culture than a meal of sobrasada, coca, camaiot, jamón ibérico, and a selection of cheeses — all complete with dried nuts and homemade jam? After the visit, you’ll have the option to visit the villages of Deia and Valldemossa, not far from the olive estate. The town sits in the heart of the Tramuntana mountain range — an area prime for hiking, if you’re so inclined. This afternoon, you have time to partake in a hiking experience along Mallorca’s dramatic northern coast of Mallorca, where the Tramuntana Mountain merges with the Mediterranean Sea. From there, you’ll return to your hotel and enjoy free time around the island. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Highlights

Valldemossa

A village steeped in old-world charm, Valldemossa lies in an idyllic valley in the midst of the Tramuntana mountains. Its ancient blonde stone houses contrast vividly against the surrounding green forests of olive, oak, and almond trees. This ambiance presents the perfect backdrop for today's adventure, which affords you the chance to do your fair share of sightseeing and take a hike along the mountain trails.

Mallorca Olive Estate

Mallorca maintains a slew of well-preserved food traditions, typical of the Mediterranean region. Without any doubt, olive groves hold one of the top spots of the island’s agricultural byproducts, defining the intersection of Mallorca’s landscape and gastronomy. During your visit to a Mallorca olive estate, you’ll learn all about this overlap between olives and local livelihoods, tasting fresh, high-quality olive oil that may very well be the best you’ve ever had.
