I have worked in travel publishing for a quarter of a century, commissioning, writing and editing my way around the world. I have covered the UK, Ireland, Iceland, Turkey, Southeast Asia, California and Mexico for Lonely Planet, and have been lucky enough to visit those and 40 other countries. Highlights? Whales and cinnamon buns in Iceland's Westfjords (the former "watched", the latter "eaten"). Sunrise at Angkor Wat in Cambodia (very humid). Cycling across San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge (something everyone should do at least once).
