I'm the National Parks Bureau Chief for SFGATE, and I often write about travel, wildlife and the sea. This year I co-authored the National Geographic book "100 Beaches of a Lifetime," and I've reported from 18 countries, contributing to more than 50 Lonely Planet guidebooks.
