About Annika
I am a freelance writer and photographer whose passions include sustainable travel, wildlife conservation, and history. Raised bilingual and bicultural, I divide my time between my two home countries, the United States and Sweden. I am fluent in Spanish and fell in love with Latin America during a college semester abroad in Ecuador. I hold a master's degree in Latin American studies, for which I conducted research in Mexico.
In addition to writing for a wide range of publications, I have been a freelance tour director for more than two decades, leading trips to destinations across the globe including Patagonia, Cuba, Morocco, Egypt, India, Mongolia, Japan, New Zealand, and numerous destinations in Europe and North America. My hobbies include hiking, kayaking, reading, Cuban-style salsa dancing, and listening to music from around the world.
