Many countries produce incredible, unique wines, but for the second year in a row, one winery - Bodega Zuccardi Valle de Uco in Argentina – has been named the best in the world.

Announced recently by World’s Best Vineyards, Bodega Zuccardi Valle de Uco was named both the best winery in the world and the best in South America. With COVID-19 restricting international travel and crowd numbers, the awards were held during a virtual ceremony. The focus was on the quality of tourism, with the awards looking at over 1500 wineries from around the world. A list of over 500 wine experts whittled the selection down to the best 50, evaluating the wines, as well as the overall guest experience, tours, tasting, ambience, food, staff, views, value for money, reputation and accessibility.

Opened in 2016, the winery is famous for producing high altitude, limestone-informed wines and offers tours and tastings. It also has a restaurant that seats up to 50 people for gourmet food and wine pairings.

“I believe this to be a great recognition to a family that believes in the place where it lives and grows. The winery is inspired by the Andes Mountains, which is what determines the identity of our wines; the winery seeks to be part of the landscape, without competing with the environment, so it will be current for a long time since it is based on the identity of the place. There is a great coherence between the winery and our way of making wines,” Sebastián Zuccardi said about the awards.

May 17, 2024: This morning, we filmed at Quesos Artisanos Villarejo, which makes award-winning cheeses - especially Manchego cheese. We met with Miguel Romero Saiz, who gave us a tour of the facility. He showed us all the steps of making their cheese. Afterwards, we did a tasting of their award-winning cheese.

Afterward, we went to a nearby farm where they milk sheep for their cheese. Local farmer Jose Andres Prieto Valencia showed us how he herds the sheep and milks them.
