Carpenters' Hall

Philadelphia

Erected as a calling card for the skillful work of the Carpenters' Company of Philadelphia in 1774, this is where the First Continental Congress met.

The building also served as the first home of the First Bank of the US before that institution moved into grander digs around the corner in 1797.
