Fort Union Trading Post

Straddling the Montana–North Dakota border, the pearl-white Fort Union Trading Post is a reconstruction of the American Fur Company post built in 1828. It was the most important post along the upper Missouri River through the 1860s. Today, the view out of the fort's gates to the river seems unchanged from that time. There's a small museum in the ornate main building and on many summer days there are blacksmith and trading demonstrations.
