The last thing you'll be here is lonely, as this is Ko Chang's backpacker enclave and the liveliest place to be after dark – until at least 5am. Here, vodka buckets are passed around and the speakers get turned up. The beach has pebbles at the southern end and towards Bailan Bay but there's a decent sandy strip to the north. Its original, long-forgotten, name is Hat Tha Nam.
