Old Mazatlán’s central market offers a classic Mexican experience, with pungent stalls selling slabs of marlin, machaca (Sinaloan dried beef), fruit, mountains of queso fresco (fresh cheese), dried chillies, sweet tamales and more. There are also several eateries here where you can fill your boots with marlin tacos, tostadas de camarón and other local delicacies - for a pittance.
The crafts here tend to be largely of the cheap and mass-produced variety, though it's worth looking out for locally handmade leather masks and ironwood carvings of marine creatures.
