Osteria del Bastian Contrario

Lucca

With an outside terrace open year-round (heated and covered in winter) and a huge choice of dishes on the multilingual menu, this down-to-earth osteria is a much-loved crowd-pleaser. The local speciality, tordelli Lucchesi (meat-filled pasta cushions), comes in at least a dozen different varieties and there are ample chicken, steak and tripe dishes for meat lovers. Inside, bar tables are made from recycled vintage suitcases.

In winter, the full-page menu featuring specialita' al tartufo nero fresco (fresh black-truffle specialities) is the one to pick from.
