Yanvalou

Thursday nights in Haiti's capital are synonymous with Yanvalou. At around 9pm, the artsy cafe and bar begins to swell with the city's in-crowd, be they UN workers, embassy types or local business owners. Some sip rum cocktails in the courtyard while others socialize by the bar. Eventually a Vodou folklore band shows up and everybody dances like crazy.
