Napoleon’s House

Ierapetra

This is where Napoleon Bonaparte is said to have stayed incognito with a local family when his ship anchored in Crete for one night in 1798 en route to his Egyptian campaign. He apparently left a note revealing his identity. The unidentified two-storey corner building (under renovation at research time) has the number 9 on its door. It's in the old quarter (Kato Mera).
