An isolated 25-acre camp, surrounded by bird-rich woodland, Pioneer is the accommodation of choice for many expats living outside Lusaka, especially those with an early flight out of the country. Most of the widely dispersed and simply furnished thatch-roofed chalets have flagstone floors, small verandas and large bathrooms. The well-kept facilities for campers are up the front next to the small plunge pool.
There's a bar, lounge and restaurant (mains US$5 to US$25) area, where the free wi-fi reception works best. It’s signposted 5km south of Great East Rd; if you don’t have a car, a transfer from the airport or city centre should run to around US$30.
