The approach to this bucolic oasis, basically an island just 7km from the park's northern border, is made all the more dramatic by the wooden walkway over a prairie of 'floating grass'. The four simply but comfortably outfitted safari tents succeed in the exact balance between luxury and offering a safari experience, and feature outdoor bathrooms with bucket showers.
An air of informality and intimacy is encouraged by fireside pre-dinner drinks and meals taken communally in the thatch-roofed lounge area.
Note it's a minimum five-night stay here, split between here and its sister property Mukambi Safari Lodge; the six-hour transport (160km) from Mukambi Safari is basically an extended wildlife-viewing drive.
