Tŷ Gwyn Hotel

Snowdonia National Park (Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri)

This 400-year-old coaching inn oozes character from every one of its numerous exposed beams. The menu is full of delicious-sounding local ingredients (Pen Loyn Farm lamb loin, whole lake trout from Llyn Brenig) and a decent number of veggie options (the wild-mushroom and pine-nut stroganoff is good), but the real appeal is the quirky old building itself.
