Bistrot du Coin

Top choice in Washington, DC

The lively and much-loved Bistrot du Coin is a neighborhood favorite for roll-up-your sleeves, working-class French fare. The kitchen sends out consistently good onion soup, classic steak-frites (grilled steak and French fries), cassoulet, open-face sandwiches and 11 varieties of its famous moules (mussels). Regional wines from around the motherland accompany the food by the glass, carafe and bottle.

The clientele is a fun mix of Dupont locals and nostalgic Europeans, and the atmosphere feels plucked out of George Orwell’s Down and Out descriptions of Paris. Make reservations.
