Pineapple and Pearls

Washington, DC

Local celeb chef Aaron Silverman operates this kicky restaurant that has a pair of Michelin stars and features a 12-course tasting menu of wild takes on comfort foods. He is often around and explaining the dishes – maybe a sweetbread-stuffed chicken wing, or potato ice cream with chocolate and fried chestnuts. Reservations open online at 10am Monday for dates five weeks in advance.

Seating at the bar sans drinks puts you at the low end of the price range. Seating in the dining room and at the chef's counter with drink pairings is most expensive. The fee covers tax and tip.

If you can't score a reservation, Silverman's other restaurant – Rose's Luxury (no reservations, but likely a line) – sits next door.
