Chef John Currence won a James Beard award and quickly set about dominating the Oxford culinary scene. City Grocery is one of his finest restaurants, offering a menu of haute Southern goodness such as blackened catfish with ham hock, stewed black-eyed peas and lard-braised hangar steak. The upstairs bar, decked out with local folk art, is a treat. Reservations recommended.
