ESSE Purse Museum

This fascinating museum has an intensive niche mission: telling the tale of the 20th-century American woman via her handbag. Hundreds of purses from 1900 to 1999 have been gathered here, along with their real or imagined contents. Special exhibits examine, for example, the contents of an African American woman's purse.
