Ogé Inn epitomizes the antebellum southern mansion: expansive, gazebo-graced grounds slope down to the riverfront, ancient pecan trees shade the lawns and rose gardens bloom in the sun. This is definitely the most stately of lodgings in the King William district. No children under 13 allowed. The property is managed by Noble Inns, which also runs Carriage House and Jackson House.
Afternoon snacks and evening aperitifs hint at the genteel age in which this house was constructed (c 1857). Velvet drapes and crystal chandeliers hang in the formal dining room; you can eat there, or you might also take your complimentary breakfast at the wrought-iron tables on the terrace. (At the odd hour that something is not being served, you can help yourself to the honor bar in the parlor.) Toile and floral patterns decorate the luxurious linens in large guest rooms and suites, while French revival and other imperial antiques are de rigueur throughout.
