REI

Top choice in Queen Anne & Lake Union

REI is the be-all and end-all of outdoor clothing and equipment, and its Lake Union flagship is no exception. In fact it even comes equipped with some additional perks like an outdoor mountain-bike test track. The store also rents various ski packages, climbing gear and camping equipment, and organizes a ton of courses from map-reading to bike maintenance.

As much an adventure as a shopping experience, the state-of-the-art megastore of America's largest consumer co-op has its own climbing wall – a 65ft rock pinnacle to the side of the store’s entryway. The wall offers various climbing options from open climbs to private instruction. Even if you're not in the market for outdoor gear, it's enough of a spectacle to recommend a visit. Check the website for details.
