The 49ers were the National Football League's dream team from 1981–94, claiming five Superbowl championships. But after decades of chilly, fumbled games at foggy Candlestick Park, the 49ers moved to Santa Clara's Levi's Stadium in 2014. To reach the stadium, take Caltrain one hour south to Santa Clara station, then catch the game-day shuttle. Get game tickets at www.ticketmaster.com.
Since Levi's Stadium is in Silicon Valley, it's tricked out with technology, from the power-generating solar roof to wi-fi-enabled concessions. Some fans argue the team should be renamed, since Santa Clara is 38 miles from San Francisco. Locals hoped the move would lift the jinx, but the 49ers still lost when Levi's Stadium hosted Superbowl 50 in 2016. But maybe there's hope yet: in a superstitious effort to align the team with the San Francisco Giants' bearded winning streak, the team's bread-loving mining mascot Sourdough Sam now sports a beard.
