Valentine’s

San Diego

There’s nothing urbane about this home-style Mexican joint, but it’s a local institution. Apart from the usual tacos and burritos, the carne asada fries (french fries topped like nachos with grilled beef, sour cream, guacamole and such) are messy, coronary-inducing and oh so bueno. Late weekend hours mean it’s great after a rager.
