Old Globe Theaters

San Diego

Balboa Park’s Old Globe Theater dates from the 1935 Exposition, and in the 1970s the main stage was rebuilt à la 17th-century Globe in England, where Shakespeare's works were originally performed. This Globe puts on 15 main productions each year, plus the annual Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! musical, honoring the famed children's book writer who lived and died in nearby La Jolla.

There are performances most days, including non-Shakespearean works.
