Lodge at Glendorn

Pennsylvania

A legacy of the Wilds' former industrial wealth, this 1200-acre estate was developed by an early-20th-century oil baron. Its 'big house' and log cabins (all with wood-burning fireplaces) now constitute one of the finest resorts in the region, catering to the money-to-burn crowd. The restaurant is excellent, and the resort fee includes activities from skeet shooting to curling.

Note that rates can be dramatically discounted in the off-season.
