OTB

Brooklyn: Williamsburg, Greenpoint & Bushwick

A world away from the grungy, betting-slip-strewn 'off-track betting' parlors of yore, OTB pays vague homage to racing thoroughbreds with some equine-themed decor but overall it's the low-lit chandeliers, flickering candles and dark-wood furniture that impart a classy vibe. There's a great beer selection while seasonal cocktails offer much to please connoisseurs with a taste for spicy or herbal drinks.

Happy hour, 5pm to 7pm on weekdays, brings half-price wine and other drinks discounts.

There's a small menu of fancified bar snacks (gruyère mac and cheese, Thai-style mussels, burgers) to accompany drinks on any given night. Weekend brunches continue the upmarket comfort food theme with Southern classics like shrimp and grits and reimagined chicken and waffles.
