In an industrial stretch of north Brooklyn, Box House Hotel's 130 inviting rooms and suites have oak floors, 16ft ceilings and Brooklyn-made art. Illuminated globes, wrought-iron bed-frames and indigo feature walls impart a suave, vintage air. Suites each have a lounge (with full-sized pull-out sofa) and kitchenette. Though rates are steep for the area, suites are huge and it's utterly stylish.
The immediate surroundings are a bit of a wasteland, but it's a 15-minute walk to the buzzing eateries and drinkeries of Greenpoint. Free shuttle service in a 1970s taxi cab is a bonus. Discounted deals available on the website. Its similar sister hotel, the Henry Norman, is also in Greenpoint.
