Wildly out of place on the UES (it's a compliment), this downhome restaurant-bar is a local favorite, dishing out gussied up comfort food like numerous cast-iron mac 'n' cheeses (with bacon from 'properly fed piggies,' chorizo, lobster, mushrooms and white truffle oil and more), an excellent burger, and daily-changing specials like ribeyes with jalapeño tomato relish or chicken ragù.
The wine, craft beer and cider list is equally appealing. There are only four hightops and 10 bar stools, so expect a wait (no reservations but you can call after 4pm to put your name on the list).
