Mark

Top choice in Upper East Side

French designer Jacques Grange left his artful mark on the Mark, with bold geometric shapes and rich, playful forms that greet visitors in the lobby (the zebra-striped marble floor, which carries on to the room bathrooms, is pure eye candy). Upstairs, lavishly renovated rooms and multi-bedroom suites are equally stylish with custom-made furnishings and luxury local linen.

Marble bathrooms feature double sinks, a separate shower and soaking tub – suites even have a flat-screen TV embedded in the mirror (and the $75,000 per night penthouse suite is North America's largest hotel room). There are plenty of other bells and whistles: complimentary shoe shine; a Frederic Fekkai salon and in-room massage services; as well as free pedicab rides and bikes. But the icing on the cake could be the seasonal outdoor hot-dog cart by French-American chef Jean-Georges (who also runs the in-house restaurant).
