IFC Center

West Village, Chelsea & Meatpacking District

This art-house cinema in NYU land has a solidly curated lineup of new indies, cult classics and foreign films. Catch shorts, documentaries, mini festivals, ’80s revivals, director-focused series, weekend classics and frequent special series, such as cult favorites (The Shining, Taxi Driver, Alien) at midnight.

A long-awaited plan to expand the theater, adding five screens and enlarging the lobby by building in the vacant lot behind, is still in the lobbying stage.
