Second Stage Theater

Midtown

This nonprofit theater company is famed for debuting the work of talented emerging writers as well as that of the country's more-established names. If you're after well-crafted contemporary American theater, this is a good place to find it.

Second Stage operates three theaters in all – the Tony Kiser is the main one, while the Hayes is nearby on W 44th St and the pocked-sized McGinn/Cazale is on the Upper West Side (at Broadway and W 76th St).
