Philanthropy, fresh food and fun times collide in this 1936 red-brick schoolhouse in Bells Bend, 10 minutes west of Nashville. The nonprofit restaurant sources its produce from nearby farms, where job training is provided for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. A large community table anchors the dining room, with delicious craft cocktails and hearty Southern dishes keeping the crowd convivial.

If you've been hiking in Beamon or Bells Bend, Old School is a tasty and convenient place to refuel. After dinner, you might be able to dance to live music in the former auditorium.
