Grand Rapids Brewing is one of the nation's few organic-certified beer makers. The rustic interior, built from reclaimed wood and other materials, jumps with locals buzzing over the Rosalynn Bliss Blonde (a mango-infused ale, named after the city's mayor), Bon Bon Fire (a milk stout that tastes like chocolate and marshmallows) and other inventive sours and lagers.
Reasonably priced flights ($6 for six pours) let you sample the wares. Mac and cheese with pork belly, meatloaf with sriracha ketchup, beer-battered fried pickles and other nouveau comfort foods accompany the brews. A game room with retro arcade amusements hides towards the back of the brewery.
