Crosstown Concourse

Memphis

It's not your typical food hall – you won't find rows of kiosks – but there's an international array of casual eateries in the city's newest hot spot. Built in 1927 as a massive retail and distribution center for Sears, and then sitting vacant for two decades, Crosstown Concourse now holds a mix of indie restaurants, shops and businesses, and even a school.

Highlights among the restaurants include the Global Cafe, where vendors serve Syrian, Nepalese and Sudanese dishes, and Lucy J's Bakery, home to scrumptious cookies and cupcakes. Also worth a stop, or a pint, is the taproom at Crosstown Brewing, where picnic tables, garage doors and foosball are the backdrop. Note that the brewery takes cards only, no cash.
