Six historic and simple lockhouses along the Potomac River on the C&O Canal towpath are available for overnight stays. Most of them are in the Capital Region. The restored houses – once the homes of locktenders – are each furnished with decor from a particular era from the 1830s to the 1950s. Some have electricity, heat and indoor bathrooms. Some do not.
