You can put West African cuisine on top of our 'Didn't expect that in small-town Maine' list, right alongside unseasonably warm winters. But along comes Me Lon Togo – 'I love Togo' in Ewe – opened by a Togolese drumming instructor at Colby College. Chicken in peanut sauce, palm butter and fufu (cassava dough), and a romantic setting – this is a gem.
High-end European dishes like monkfish osso buco and grilled duck are also available. The menu is prix fixe, but given the large portions and multiple courses, you're making out pretty well, budget-wise. Reservations recommended.
