Floyd’s Record Shop

Cajun Country

A good way to round out your prairie musical tour is to stop by this record shop in Ville Platte. In 1957 Floyd Solieau left his DJ job to start both the shop and Flat Tire Music. The shop, still in the family, is a cultural icon and an excellent resource for all things Cajun – CDs, instruments, books and souvenirs.

Throughout the years, under various label names, Floyd has waxed records for dozens of French-language Cajun and swamp pop legends.
