Canteen Lunch in the Alley

Locals have gathered around the horseshoe-shaped counter at this Ottumwa staple since 1936 to gobble down 'canteens' (loose meat hamburgers wrapped in wax paper). There are also peanut butter and banana shakes and a huge menu of fresh pies. It's located in a tiny yellow-brick building hidden under a parking garage.
