Otto's Place

Top choice in Illinois

Just off Main St (read: lures in more locals), Otto constructed this historic building in 1899 and turned it into a restaurant. He and his restaurant are long gone, but new proprietors pay homage to history at this excellent breakfast stop, which serves up killer sautéed potatoes and recommended breakfast tacos, plus wildly popular sweet-potato hash and banana bread.

Original hardwood flooring and pressed-tin ceilings hint at the past, while wholesome and creative morning dishes feed the hungry with a welcoming smile. There's a full bar too.
