Super-trendy plant and botanical store, Paiko is located in Honolulu’s ultra-cool and up-and-coming Kakaʻako neighborhood. Attached to a wildly popular Aussie-inspired-and-co-owned coffee shop named Arvo (meaning 'afternoon' in Australian slang), Paiko totes itself as being not just your mere standard-fare floral shop, but rather a bona fide botanical boutique.
And the fancy name fits, as stepping into this shop is like visiting a fantastical treasure trove filled with all sizes of terrariums, adorable vases, and hard to find succulents and air plants, and beyond. Ultra stylish and uber chic are understatements for this pretty as a picture plant company.
Paiko’s creators and co-owners, Tamara Rigney and Courtney Monahan, describe their little plant paradise as being 'the product of a love of nature, design, and Hawaii.' The actual name Paiko refers to Oʻahu’s Paiko Beach, where Rigney’s journey into florals and botanicals began to bloom. Drawn by the energy and artistic atmosphere that is Kakaʻako, Rigney decided that she would open a brick and mortar studio, and that this eclectic enclave should be its home.
It was then that Monahan signed on as co-partner, and the rest is Paiko history. Far more than a mere retail store specializing in exotic and awe-worthy plants, Paiko also offers workshops, inviting you to unleash your creativity in myriad ways – like learning how to make your own terrarium, mastering the art and science of caring for succulents, and constructing a floral masterpiece and other plant arrangements like a pro.
