Hilton Waikoloa Village

You'll either love or hate the showy, theme-park features of this mega-hotel. There's no natural beach, so the highlights are artificial, if well-executed: saltwater lagoons, air-conditioned trams, and an entire canal system plied by wooden boats. Rooms are comfy enough, with standard business-class decor and amenities. Due to the sheer size of the property, getting around can take a while.

The hotel is showing its age, but its larger-than-life decor, including over a thousand works of art from across the Asia-Pacific region, still impresses.
