Leonard’s

Waikiki

It’s almost impossible to drive by the Leonard’s eye-catching vintage 1950s neon sign without seeing a crowd of tourists. This bakery is famous for its malasadas (sweet deep-fried dough rolled in sugar) Portuguese-style – like a doughnut without the hole. Order variations with haupia (coconut cream) or guava filling for more flavor. Be sure to get yours hot from the fryer.

Other baked goods like the bland sausage croissants aren't worth the hype. If there's a line, there are displays of logo-emblazoned T-shirts to divert you.
