Step up to the front-yard register and prepare to be wowed by the hefty malasadas that arrive piping hot. You can order them plain or stuffed with everything from chocolate to pineapple. These fried balls of sugar-coated deliciousness – think donuts without holes – were originally brought to the island by Portuguese immigrants. Come early because they do sell out.
