ʻUlu means 'breadfruit,' and this sustainably minded restaurant is all about locally sourced produce, seafood and meat – some 75% of its dishes are made with Hawaiʻi-grown ingredients. The menu mixes tastes from makai to mauka: curried Kona mussels, kiawe-smoked potatoes and wild boar glazed with lilikoʻi (passion fruit). That said, the food doesn't always live up to the hype – or the sky-high prices.
The atmosphere is casually elegant, with glass-ball partitions and island artwork. Soak up sunset views from the 10-seat bar inside the sushi lounge. Dinner reservations are recommended for the restaurant.
