Hilo Farmers Market

Top choice in Hilo

This bustling market features wide-ranging fruits and veggies, plus takeout food and edible gifts. It's come a long way since opening in 1988 with four farmers selling from trucks. The luscious papayas and bananas are worthy finds but, fair warning, not all of the produce sold here is locally grown. Bring cash and a bag. No haggling.

If you miss Wednesday or Saturday market days, you'll still find a bunch of daily vendors selling produce and flowers.
