Mall of America

Minneapolis

Welcome to the USA's largest shopping center. Yes, it's just a mall, filled with the usual stores, movie theaters and eateries. But there's also a wedding chapel inside. And an 18-hole mini-golf course. And a zipline. And an amusement park, aka Nickelodeon Universe, with 28 rides, including a couple of scream-inducing roller coasters. To walk through will cost you nothing; a one-day, unlimited-ride wristband is $37; or you can pay for rides individually ($3.60 to $7.20).

What's more, the state's largest aquarium, Sea Life Minnesota – brimming with sharks, jellyfish and stingrays – is in the mall too. Combination passes are available to save dough. The Blue Line light-rail runs to/from downtown Minneapolis. The mall is in suburban Bloomington, a 10-minute ride from the airport.
