Ima

Detroit

Ima’s sophisticated dishes belie its fast-casual, pay at the counter ambience. Yaki udon noodles smothered in sesame-butter sauce and forest udon with roasted tofu in porcini broth draw crowds of happy slurpers. Sake, shochu (Japanese liquor) and beer keep the party going. The minimalist room is cramped and often packed, but the heated patio provides relief.

Vegans and gluten-free diners have plentiful options.
