American Hotel

Atlanta

The original Americana Motor Lodge that once occupied this space opened in 1962 – funded by Martin Luther King's dentist – and was Atlanta's first integrated hotel (these walls have slept such icons as Aretha Franklin and James Brown). This new mid-century modern throwback to the original hotel features design elements around every turn that evoke the hotel's storied past.

Starburst light fixtures and snazzy blue hallway carpeting lead to 315 rooms with local headboard art and colorful retro Igloo minibars; an Airstream trailer serves as the pool bar. Parking is $38.
