Built in 1891 as a stable for the Plant hotel, the reimagined Oxford Exchange takes its inspiration from the venerable Wolseley in London. The American menu is served beneath sculptural palm fronds in a greenhouse atrium, and there's also a wood-paneled bookstore, a Buddy Brew coffee stand and TeBella bar. Beer, wine, craft cocktails and cold-pressed juices are all on offer.
Special events like afternoon teas and panel discussions with famous writers (recently they managed to land George Saunders!) are not uncommon.
